A welcoming message for all

St. Luke’s is a faith community where people from all walks of life – economic, political, social, sexual, even spiritual – stand side by side worshiping in the Anglican tradition. At a time when the congregations of many organized religions are in decline, St. Luke’s is thriving.

What’s the secret? There’s no one thing, of course, but a big part of the appeal is summed up in the words spoken by Rector Tim Rich at every worship service as he invites visitors to the congregation to come up for Communion regardless of their faith background and no matter where they are in their faith journey: “Everyone is welcome at the Lord’s table.”

St. Luke’s practices what it preaches.

When we got the assignment to refresh the St. Luke’s brand and website, we knew we had to work the church’s welcoming spirit into the new look and messaging. So you’ll find it here in a logo, tagline, and refreshed website, as well as in a Commitment Campaign video and 4’ x 6’ posters that now hang in the church’s worship space.

For one of our 2019 Commitment Campaign posters, Father Tim found inspiration in the closing video-montage scene from the movie “Love, Actually.” Could we use tiny photos of parishioners to create the face of Jesus or was that asking too much? Nope (it wasn’t asking too much).

The St. Luke’s Church worship space is home to 51 spectacular stained glass windows, including three signed by Tiffany. When an ambitious project to create a book showcasing the history of each window met challenges, Rob came to the rescue, re-designing the 44 pages, shooting new photography, and sourcing a print café online that could deliver the perfect bound book at a low unit cost.
